At Kaycee Madu KC Law Firm, we (the firm, lawyers, and assistants) collect personal information to enable us effectively to advance our client’s interests and needs. We also collect our client’s and potential employees’ personal information to manage the firm’s business and affairs.

What constitute personal information varies and may depend on the circumstances of the client’s needs and relationship with the firm. Generally, personal information may include sensitive personal, financial, business, professional or health related information and may be collected during meetings, in writing, in personal interviews, on the telephone, or by other means such as electronic communications, including through our website.

Personal information regarding our clients and employees are not released without their knowledge and consent unless bound by law or contract to do so.

At the conclusion of our legal services to a client, we close the file. The file is then stored as required by law for a ten (10) year period. With respect to employees, we also retain information regarding employees for approximately five (5) years after their employment with our firm.

Consent 

By using our website, establishing a solicitor-client relationship, engaging our lawyers and firm and by retaining us for legal services, including legal advice, clients give their consent to us to collect, use, and disclose their personal information. If you do not agree with this our privacy policy, then, you should not use our website, email, or send us in writing your personal information. It is permissible to withdraw your consent at any time by providing our firm with reasonable notice in writing, however, please note that your withdrawal may be subject to legal obligations on our part, contractual obligations, and other legal requirements.

Use of Personal Information 

We use the information collected as may be required to manage and carry our client’s instructions and matters and improve services to clients in a variety of ways, including client relationships, as well as to meet our professional and legal obligations in compliance with Alberta and Canadian laws.

Disclosure

We do not disclose personal information. However, if we are required to disclose client’s information, we must obtain the said client’s consent and the disclosure must be relevant in carrying out our client’s instructions, the provision of legal services and in compliance with the law.

We take seriously our obligation to protect your personal information. That is why we have implemented our firm’s operational and technological systems to ensure your personal information are protected against unauthorized and illegal access, disclosure, copying, use, or modification.
 

Access to Personal Information/Contact

Clients and employees may make a request to access their records or personal information by contacting our office, and providing as much information that will help us comply with their request. All requests for access to personal information or concerns regarding this privacy policy must be received in writing and a fee for copying the information may be required.
